Doctors

Dr David Elliott
BSc MB ChB (Manchester) 1975
Dr Elliott was brought up in London and the Midlands. He trained at St Andrews and Manchester, and has worked at Queen Square since 1979.

His main interests in the practice are Palliative Care, Drug Dependence, and Psychiatry. He is one of the Lead GPs for Palliative Care in North Lancs. PCT.
Dr D. John Yarnall
MB ChB (Bristol) 1976 DCH FRCGP Dr Yarnall was originally from Hyde, but was brought up in the Thames Valley. He trained in Bristol, and did his General Practice training in Kendal and Lancaster. He has run the local GP Training scheme since 1999. He has been a Partner since 1981.
Dr Simon Wetherell (m)

MA BM BCh (Oxon) 1985 DRCOG FRCGP Dr Wetherell was brought up near York, and trained at both Oxford and Cambridge. Most of his General Practice Training has been done in Morecambe Bay. He has worked at Queen Square since 1989. His interests include Diabetes, Heart Disease, and Clinical Governance. He is the Lead GP for Diabetes in North Lancs. PCT.

He also trains Foundation doctors (training grade) in the practice.

Dr Kamlesh Sidhu (f)

MB ChB (Manchester) 1983 MRCGP Dr Sidhu has been a partner at Queen Square since 1990. She graduated from Manchester University in 1983 and completed her GP training in Lancaster.

Dr Sidhu is the lead for prescribing in the practice. She has a special interest in Dermatology and gained a distinction in  the Diploma for Practical Dermatology in 2004. Since 1990 she has been part of the Dermatology team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary. She is enthusiastic about educating GPs in Dermatology and has run many teaching sessions over the years. Currently Dr Sidhu is developing her interest in Dermatological surgery.

Dr Jeremy Marriott (m)
MB ChB(Birmingham) 1986, FRCGP. Dr Marriott went to Medical School in Birmingham. After his training he worked mainly in the North West, but spent 15 months in Auckland, New Zealand. His interests in the practice include musculoskeletal problems, Travel Medicine and drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. He is a member of the Professional Executive Committee of North Lancs. PCT and Chairman of the Practice Based Commissioning Consortium. He has been a partner at Queen Square since 1992
Dr Alison Bateman
MB ChB (Sheffield) 1989
Dr Bateman was brought up in Manchester, and trained in Sheffield. After a spell working in New Zealand, she completed her GP training in Glasgow, before moving to Lancaster, where she has been with the practice since 1994.

Her interests in the practice are in women's health, and Family Planning. She is a Family Planning Trainer. She works as a job- share with her husband, Dr Johnstone.
Dr Nicholas Johnstone

MB ChB BSc (Dundee) 1986 MRCGP

Dr Johnstone was brought up in Bradford, and trained in Dundee. After leaving Medical School, he completed part of his General Practice Training in the UK before working as a Medical Officer in the Antarctic for a year. He then moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where he met his wife, Dr Bateman, who is also a GP in the practice. He has been a partner since 1994, and his interests include medical computing, and psychiatry.

Dr Simon Connell (m)

MB ChB (Manchester) 1993 DCH MRCGP Dr Connell was brought up in Lytham St. Annes, graduated from Manchester University in 1993 and completed his GP training in Lancaster. He has been a GP in Lancaster since 1997 & has been a partner at Queen Square since 2000.

 His medical interests include training new GPs, IT, Epilepsy and Learning disabilities. Dr Connell is one of the lead Medical Educators responsible for training new GPs locally. He is married to Dr Helen Connell who is also a partner at Queen Square.

Dr Martin Soole
MBBS (London 1986) MRCGP DRCOG DPD Dr Martin Soole grew up in London and trained at the Royal London Hospital. He eventually arrived in Lancaster after over twenty years working as a Partner in both single-handed and group practices in London and Nottingham. His particular interest is Dermatology. He joined Queen Square Medical Practice as a Partner in February 2010.
Dr Helen Connell

MB ChB (Manchester) 1995 DRCOG MRCGP Dr Helen Connell was born and brought up in Derbyshire. She is married to Dr Simon Connell and they have 2 girls. She has worked at Queen Square since May 2001 and was made a partner in April 2010.

She is a GP with a Special interest (GPSWi) in Genito-urinary Medicine, and trains foundation doctors(training grade) in the practice.

Dr Fiona Stuart
BSc ChB (London) 1987 DRCOG MRCGP

Dr Stuart was previously a partner for a number of years at a practice in the South of England before moving to Lancaster. She has been an associate GP at Queen Square since August 2002.

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is aware of problems with its outpatient appointment system.

A team, which includes clinicians, is working to establish the number and nature of appointments that may be affected.  If delays are identified, individual patients will be contacted directly to make a new appointment.
