ATTENDING YOUR VACCINATION APPOINTMENT

You may be aware that we have recently experienced some long queues during our COVID-19 vaccination clinics. We’d like to thank everyone who has had to wait for your patience and understanding, and the continued good spirits!
We are working hard to continually improve our processes to reduce wait times and have made some initial changes already.
How can you help?
To anyone coming for their vaccination in the near future, please do not arrive earlier than 5 minutes before your appointment – this will help to stop queues from forming and allow you to get your vaccination more quickly. If you are late for your appointment, you will still be vaccinated so please do not worry about missing your time slot.
If you do arrive early then it’s important that you stay in your car until your appointment time – we know the urge is to join the queue as soon as possible but by doing so you could be delaying the process for yourself and others.
Again, thank you to everyone who has attended – you are part of the country’s best route out of this pandemic!


Please help us speed up the COVID-19 booster vaccine roll out by booking an appointment as soon as possible after you receive an invitation.

 If you have received a text invite from ourselves but have already booked via the National Booking System, or if you want to decline the booster/3rd Primary dose (which is for specific immunosuppressed patients), please still click on the link in the text and select the relevant option. This will then remove you from our invite list.

 Boosters can only be booked 182 days from your 2nd dose.

A 3rd primary dose is available to specific immunosuppressed patients after 8 weeks from the 2nd dose.

COVID-19 Vaccine Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where are the COVID-19 vaccine clinics being held?

We are currently holding our clinics at Bowland Hall, on the Lancaster University Campus site. On entering by car via the main driveway, turn left at the roundabout and Bowland Hall is found behind the chaplaincy building.

  • When will I be eligible to get the vaccine?

We are currently following rules outlined by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) on which groups should receive their vaccinations first. This is the priority list as outlined by the JCVI: https://bit.ly/3i3rVwC

Please also consider that we are reliant on the supply of vaccines for the speed at which we vaccinate our population.

  • I am a frontline worker, why have I not been invited yet?

If you are a frontline healthcare or social care worker and have not yet been invited for your vaccination, please check within your organisation first. If there is no plan in place for COVID-19 vaccinations within your organisation then please ask your employer to contact us on 01524 843333.

  • I am housebound, when will I be vaccinated?

At this time we are awaiting guidance on how to transport vaccine doses to individuals who are housebound.  We will be in contact with our housebound patients as soon as we can.

If you think you would be able to get to the Health innovation Campus (there is wheelchair access) for your vaccination then please call the practice on 01524 843333 and we will be able to arrange that for you as long as you are currently eligible.

  • How will I be contacted to be invited to book an appointment?

If we have a mobile number for you on our records then you will receive a text from which you can follow a link to book into an appointment. Alternatively, if we do not have a mobile number for you on our records then we will call you to invite you to book an appointment.

  • How do I know that the invitation is not a scam?

Please be aware that even if you are registered with Queen Square Medical Practice the invitation will come from Lancaster Medical Practice. Additionally, please note that Lancaster Medical Practice as well as all NHS organisations will NEVER ask for any banking information, passwords or PIN numbers. If you think you have received a false invitation, you can report it using Action Fraud: https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/.

ASTRA-ZENECA vaccine important information

Click here to read the most recent information from the government regarding the Astra-Zeneca vaccination.  We will endeavour to update this information as soon as it becomes available.

We know that there will be some patients who have questions following the government’s announcement regarding the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine. We want to reassure patients that the risks with this vaccine are extremely low and for the vast majority of people the benefits of vaccination greatly outweigh the risks.

There is a helpful information leaflet that has been produced by Public Health England, this can be accessed here.

For patients who have questions about their second dose of AstraZeneca; The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) state that ‘all those who have received a first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine should continue to be offered a second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, irrespective of age’. There are specific patients who should take clinical advice before receiving a second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine – primarily patients with a history of thrombosis or who have experienced thrombosis after vaccination (with any COVID-19 vaccine).
