COVID-19 Autumn Booster 2024
The COVID-19 Autumn Booster vaccination scheme will start October 2024. If you are eligible for vaccination, you will be invited to book an appointment. Housebound patients will be contacted nearer the time to accept or decline the vaccine, and will then be added to the list for a home visit.
You are eligible for the autumn booster if you are in any of the following groups:
- Residents in care homes for older adults
- All adults aged 65 years and over
- People aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
Flu Vaccines
This year, the Practice will start giving Flu vaccines from 3rd October to eligible patients in line with government guidance. Some patients will be eligible from September. Scientific evidence has shown that it is better to have the flu jab later than in previous years to make sure patients have cover closer to the time that flu typically circulates for eligible patients.
You are eligible for the Flu vaccination if you are in any of the following groups:
From 1st September:
- pregnant women
- all children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2024
- all children in clinical risk groups aged from 6 months to less than 18 year
From 3rd October
- Residents in long-stay residential care homes
- All adults aged 65 years and over
- People aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
- Carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
- Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
- Frontline workers in a social care setting without an employer led occupational health scheme including those working for a registered residential care or nursing home, registered domiciliary care providers, voluntary managed hospice providers and those that are employed by those who receive direct payments (personal budgets) or Personal Health budgets, such as Personal Assistants
Clinics
We are holding a large vaccination clinic at Queen Square Surgery on Saturday 9th November from 9am – 1pm. We will be vaccinating for COVID and/or flu. Contact us if you are eligible to book your appointment.
We now also have a variety of clinics available to book during the week at Queen Square Surgery and Caton Health Centre from 14th October. Contact us now to book in!
Some patients will already have been invited to book in via text – please use this opportunity to decline the flu and/or COVID vaccine at this time if you do not wish to have one.
